Upgrades


Over the past 12 years Seabrook have executed a variety of Camstar projects.  As we have completed a large number of upgrades, we’ve developed a process that has yielded our clients with successful results.  There are three key areas we pay careful attention to:

Every upgrade is DIFFERENT

  • Solutions vary in customization level
  • Upgrade & maintenance procedures differ
  • There are many possible systems integrations
Through our experience Seabrook have found that every upgrade is different.  Our clients use Camstar in a variety of ways.  Some solutions are highly customized while others have very few customizations.  As Seabrook have developed these client relationships we’ve discovered a variety of operating procedures they used to upgrade and maintain their systems.  It is vital for us to clearly understand how our clients operate in order to effectively partner with them.  With Camstar’s use of standard data structure formats, there are endless possibilities for systems integrations.  Seabrook have worked with the most common systems like SAP, QAD, and JD Edwards but have integrated many other custom solutions using synchronous and asynchronous methods.

Timelines are CRITICAL to production

 
  • Required code freezes increase business risk
  • Legacy systems must be retired quickly
  • Production cutovers must be done with limited business impact
  • Roll-out issues must be addressed immediately
Timelines are CRITICAL, because of the impact to production.  Depending upon which version you upgrade to, some pages will be completely new, so customizations will have to be redone manually.  For some upgrades, new hardware may be provisioned and old hardware retired.  If the upgrade takes too long, you incur the unnecessary costs of additional infrastructure.  Every time a system changes is made, there is some impact to production. Seabrook have identified it is absolutely vital to communicate and confirm all aspects of the implementation process with our clients.  As a partner Seabrook want to see your team successfully implement to the production floor.


Following regulatory guidelines is a MUST

  • Initial requirements must be verified against new/changed features
  • Test scripts must be verified against new features/UI changes
Seabrook’s work is focused on the medical device industry.  We understand validation efforts are a large portion of the overall work involved in the upgrade process.  Due to new features and changes in Camstar, initial requirements need to be verified.  Changes in the interface can also mean that test scripts need to be updated.  Clients are often overwhelmed with validation.  Seabrook execute a risked based approach that greatly reduces the level of effort to effectively validate a system.
