Industry 4.0 is undoubtedly the challenge of our time and Seabrook has found itself at an increasing number of events focusing on the theme of the Smart Factory in recent times. On March 31st, we were delighted to attend the ‘SME 2016 and Industry 4.0’ seminar at Limerick Institute of Technology, where there were a number of hugely informative presentations on the impact of digitisation on the future of manufacturing.
The clear message was that there are 3 key factors necessary for success in Industry 4.0; people, products and processes. And if organisations neglect one of these central aspects, they will fail to prepare for the age of digitisation.
There were fantastic presentations all focusing on this key message by Liam Browne, VP Enterprise, Research and Development at LIT, Adrian Long of J&J and Shane Loughlin of SL Controls. Dr Christopher Rude also discussed the German experience of Industry 4.0 while John Cosgrove, Tech Director of the ACORN research centre at LIT gave a short but very insightful presentation.
Seabrook will hold its own ‘Preparing for Industry 4.0’ roadshow in Dublin on Monday April 25th, where Seabrook experts and guest speakers from Siemens and Zimmer Biomet will discuss the advanced technologies of MES and PLM and the significant role they will play in digitisation.
