Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland visits Seabrook HQ

By | News | No Comments

Seabrook was delighted to recently welcome Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland to our Cork headquarters. We enjoyed a fun morning with Ruby, a beautiful, highly- trained black Labrador mix. Like all the specially trained dogs at Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland, Ruby provides safety, independence and companionship to children with autism and their families

Autism Assistance Dogs also gave an interesting and informative talk, where Seabrook staff learned that it takes two years and €15,000 to train one dog. They provide both Assistance Dogs and Companion Dogs to the children they help.

Assistance dogs are suitable for children with autism aged between 4 and 12 years. They are working dogs who are attached to a child for safety when they are outdoors. Companion Dogs are more suitable for older children who don’t need a dog for safety when out and about. They are great for companionship for children who could otherwise be isolated, and can help with teaching them a sense of responsibility.

Seabrook are great supporters of this fantastic charity and are hugely impressed with the fantastic work that they do.
